Frequently Asked Questions

The Star Registry is a novelty gift service. Your star name is recorded in our private registry archive for symbolic, keepsake purposes — it is not recognized by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), NASA, or any scientific body, and no commercial registry can confer official astronomical naming rights. The coordinates, however, point to real cataloged stars.

Every package includes a framed certificate poster — it ships within 24 hours and typically arrives in 5–7 business days with free shipping. Deluxe and Binary Deluxe packages also include an engraved pendant necklace. Your digital certificate is delivered instantly by email too — perfect for last-minute gifts. Rush processing is available at checkout for 2–3 day arrival.

Yes — Deluxe, Binary, and Binary Deluxe packages draw from bright, naked-eye-visible stars (magnitude 5.5 or brighter) and your star map shows exactly where to look. Standard packages reference real cataloged stars that may require binoculars or a telescope.

Every registration includes the star's Right Ascension (RA) and Declination (Dec) in the standard J2000 epoch, plus its visual magnitude and constellation — the same coordinate system professional astronomers use. You can verify the location with any star chart or astronomy app.

Absolutely — memorial dedications are one of our most popular gifts. Many families choose a star to honor a loved one, and the dedication message on the certificate becomes a lasting tribute you can revisit every clear night.

Yes. During personalization you can pick any of the 88 recognized constellations, and we'll assign your star from that region of the sky. Deluxe, Binary, and Binary Deluxe packages draw from visible stars in your chosen constellation.

The Binary package registers two stars orbiting one another — a real binary star system — under one shared dedication. It includes a framed certificate poster showing both stars, two star maps, and registry entries for both stars. Binary Deluxe adds an engraved pendant necklace carrying both stars' names and coordinates.
