Terms of Service

The Star Registry sells novelty, symbolic star-naming gifts. When you register a star, your chosen star name, dedication, and registration details are recorded in our private registry archive for symbolic and keepsake purposes only.

The Star Registry is not affiliated with the International Astronomical Union (IAU), NASA, or any other scientific body. We hold no scientific naming authority. Star names in the scientific community are assigned by the IAU, and our registrations do not change or affect any official astronomical catalog, designation, or naming.

Our certificates, star maps, and registry entries are keepsakes — a meaningful, romantic, or commemorative gesture — not official scientific designations.

You provide a star name (up to 40 characters), a registration date, a preferred constellation, a personal dedication (up to 200 characters), and your email address. We assign coordinates from our bundled bright-star catalog and issue a unique registry ID.

You are responsible for the content you submit. Star names and dedications must not be unlawful, hateful, obscene, or infringing on the rights of others. We may refuse or edit registrations that violate this policy.

Package tiers and add-on prices are shown at checkout in USD: Standard $99.99, Deluxe $149.99, Binary $119.99, Binary Deluxe $169.99, plus optional add-ons (Star Finder App Access $9.99, Rush Physical Delivery $14.99). Every package includes a framed certificate poster with free shipping.

Prices are subject to change, but the price shown at the time you complete checkout is the price you pay.

Digital delivery: your digital certificate and registry entry are delivered by email, typically within minutes of a successful payment.

Physical delivery: framed certificate posters and engraved pendants are shipped to the address you provide. Estimated shipping times are shown at checkout. Rush physical delivery expedites processing; it does not guarantee a specific carrier delivery date.

Digital products are non-refundable once issued, because the registry entry and certificate are personalized and delivered immediately.

Physical products may be returned in original condition within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the physical goods portion of your order, excluding shipping charges. To request a return, contact support@thestarregistry.com.

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details on our servers. By completing a purchase, you authorize us to charge the payment method you provide for the total shown at checkout.

Our products are novelty keepsakes sold “as is.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Star Registry is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your purchase or use of our products or services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the order in question.

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in effect at the time of your purchase applies to that purchase.
